about theo
First and foremost, Theo Tsirigotis feels odd writing about himself in the third person and never realized this was going to be part of the deal.
Theo grew up between Austin, TX and Phoenix, AZ before majoring in Economics and History at Claremont McKenna College. After graduating, he commissioned as a US Army officer. Over a period of just under ten years, he had the privilege to serve as an infantry officer, deploy to Afghanistan as part of the 75th Ranger Regiment, and lead a Special Forces (Green Beret) Team.
An avid reader since childhood, he had always considered the actual act of writing as something for a very different group of people, and was frankly a bit terrified of the whole idea. However, after leaving the Army, he faced the inescapable conclusion that his choice was to either start writing and get over that fear, or to slowly lose his mind. As it turned out, the choice wasn’t as binary as it first appeared.
When not writing, he can be found running outside, lifting weights, painting too-expensive plastic miniatures, and trying new outdoor hobbies. And reading!
Theo is inspired by authors like Joe Abercrombie, Andrzej Sapkowski, Bernard Cornwell, and Pierce Brown, along with too many others to count. The story and universe of Pax Terminus grew out of an obsession with myths of cyclical apocalypse and a fascination with the idea of what the industrialization and exploitation of a magical resource might look like. Above all, he wants to give readers the sort of experience all those authors before have given him: the chance to lose themselves in a new world filled with interesting people making impossible choices.
Splinters of Heaven is his debut novel. Enjoy!
